LP8778B is a constant voltage and constant current controller suitable for secondary-side controlled flyback applications. Using a unique detection method and algorithm, the system can operate in a constant voltage and constant current output state. The system uses a multi-mode control scheme. In the constant voltage operating state, the chip uses peak current control mode, and reduces the frequency to improve average efficiency below medium load. Under light load or no load, the system operates in burst mode. In the constant current operating state, a fixed current limit reference value is used to achieve the constant current function. The chip uses unique frequency jitter technology to improve EMI performance. The LP8778B has multiple protection functions, including VCC undervoltage protection, VCC overvoltage protection, output short-circuit protection, output synchronous rectification short-circuit protection, inductor overcurrent protection, overtemperature protection, input undervoltage protection, output overvoltage protection, optocoupler input short-circuit protection, and CS resistor short-circuit protection. The LP8778B uses a SOT23-6L package and has an MSL3 packaging level.
