The EG8401 is a stereo, output filter-free Class D audio power amplifier with anti-distortion and ultra-low EMI. With a 5V power supply, THD+N=10%, and a 4Ω load, it delivers up to 3.2W of power. Its performance rivals that of AB class amplifiers, while achieving 88% efficiency. The EG8401's key feature is its anti-distortion function, which detects and suppresses output signal distortion (clipping) caused by excessively large input music or voice signal amplitudes. It also adaptively prevents output clipping due to power supply voltage drops in battery applications, significantly improving sound quality, creating a very comfortable music experience, and protecting the speaker from overload damage. By connecting different resistor and capacitor values to the NCN pin, the amplifier's sound quality and output power can be flexibly adjusted. The chip also provides an NCNOFF mode. The EG8401 uses a unique electromagnetic radiation (EMI) suppression technology, boasting superior low-radiation performance across the entire bandwidth. Even without any auxiliary design, the radiation level is far below the FCC Part 15 Class B standard, reducing the difficulty of system electromagnetic compatibility design. The EG8401 integrates filter-free digital modulation technology, enabling direct speaker drive and minimizing distortion and noise in pulsed output signals. The minimal external components save system space and cost, making it ideal for portable applications. Furthermore, the EG8401's built-in shutdown function minimizes standby current. It also integrates shutdown, speaker output overcurrent protection, on-chip overtemperature protection, and undervoltage protection. The chip is packaged in a lead-free ESOP8 package.
