CN3392

Overview: CN3392 is a PFM boost type dual-cell lithium battery charge control integrated circuit operating at 2.75V to 6.5V. CN3392 uses constant current and quasi-constant voltage mode (Quasi-CVTM) to manage battery charging. It integrates a reference voltage source, inductor current detection unit, battery voltage detection circuit, and on-chip MOSFET, etc., featuring few external components and simple circuitry. When the input power is connected, CN3392 enters the charging state, controlling the on-chip N-channel MOSFET to turn on, and the inductor current rises. When it rises to the upper limit set by the external current detection resistor, the on-chip N-channel MOSFET turns off, and the inductor current decreases, transferring the energy in the inductor to the battery. When the inductor current drops to the lower limit set by the external current detection resistor, the on-chip N-channel MOSFET turns on again, and this cycle repeats. When the BAT pin voltage first reaches the internally set 8.4V (typical value), CN3392 enters quasi-constant voltage charging mode and charges the battery with a smaller current. In quasi-constant voltage mode, when the BAT pin voltage reaches 8.4V, the charging process ends, and the on-chip N-channel MOSFET remains off. When the BAT pin voltage drops to the recharge threshold, CN3392 enters the charging state again. The maximum operating frequency of CN3392 can reach 1MHz. When the battery voltage is lower than the input voltage or the battery is short-circuited, CN3392 continues to charge the battery with a smaller current under the combined action of the on-chip N-channel MOSFET and the external P-channel MOSFET, protecting the battery. Other functions include chip enable input, chip over-temperature protection, current detection resistor short-circuit protection, and status indication output. CN3392 uses a 3mm x 3mm 12-pin DFN package.
